29 Navy Street - Frontier House - 1963 |
Description |
This house was located at 29 Navy Street on the south-east corner of King Street and Navy Street. In 1834 John Moore bought the plot of land from William Chisholm (1788-1842) and built this house. In 1838 his father-in-law, Barnet Griggs (1783-1864), owned the house and leased it to various tenants before he converted it into a hotel. It was a hotel from 1853 to 1860 and was named the Frontier House. It ceased to be a hotel in 1860 and in 1870 Robert Swanton Appelbe (1838-1904) bought the house. |
