The steamer boat named "The White Star", full of passengers sailing during the Fruit Growers Excursion. In an effort to ensure regular steamship service to Oakville, the Oakville Navigation Company was formed in 1899. The company promptly purchase the "White Star", a shalow draft steel hulled ship built in Montreal in 1897.
