  2. Coal Order, 1917 - from the Oakville Board of Education, addressed to Arthur Hillmer's Ice & Coal Company. The document is signed by William E. Crawley. According to the receipt, 65 tons of coal were delivered to the Oakville Public School, and 65 tons to the Oakville High School.

  3. Col. George Chisholm (1792-1872) - Col. George Chisholm (1792-1872) was born in Fort Erie, Canada. He was one of nine children of George Chisholm (Sr.) (1752-1842) and Barbara McKenzie Chisholm (1758-1824). George Sr. was involved in building Fort Erie. He was the brother of William and John Chisholm. When he was six years old, the family moved to Upper Canada and settled first in Fort Erie before moving to Burlington. He took over the farm on Burlington Bay after his father died. He and his wife, Eliza McCarter, (1796-1851), had 7 children, who were all born on the farm: Alexander Murray Chisholm, (emigrated to Australia) Barbara Bell (Chisholm) Cooper (1817-1860), Amanda Fitzallen (Chisholm) McKay (1822-1845), Duncan Chisholm (1824-1888), William King Chisholm (1825-1884), George Brock Chisholm (1828-1884), and Daniel Black Chisholm (1832-1899) When his brother William went bankrupt in 1842, George lost the farm. He, Eliza and her mother are buried in the cemetery on the southeast corner of Dundas and Guelph Line.

  18. Colborne Street Bridge, 1880 - This picture is looking west over the Colborne Street Bridge in the 1880's, prior to Aberdeen Bridge. The area of land that can partially be seen in the bottom left-hand corner was later the location of the first Post Office. This picture was on a postcard addressed to M. E. Jeffins in 1905. The message on the front reads: "Dear Friend, How are you, would like to write a letter but have not time, we wish you a merry Christmas and a very happy New Year. M. Coote." The message on the back reads: "Mrs. M. E. Jeffins, McDougald B. School, Morley, Alberta. We are expecting Charles + his wife home from the west for Xmas. Robert is in the Bank of Toronto."

Dear Mary, I was pleased to see you got Partial Matrie and I sincerely hope you will be back along with the rest of us or those which are left behind. I was very sorry Vera did not get through. Didn't W. F. do well. Write and let me know whether you are coming to study your other two subjects for next year. Yours truly, E. Lyon."
